Critically analyse the important findings of the first socio-economic and caste census in India since 1934, the Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011 (SECC), with reference to education, health, land, water and electricity accessibility.

The much debated and much awaited Social economic caste census is here and it represents a grim picture of the policies and reforms which had been undertaken till now by the government in various sectors.

->The report shows in rural area 30pc of the people are landless and unemployed and they had to depend on the other casual labor works for there livelihood. In education sector in more than 25pc of the adults in rural area are illiterate rendering the present education policies ineffective n curbing illiteracy.

->Majority of the rural people ie 50.7pc undertake medication from the private hospitals in contrast to meager 18pc in the govt hospitals and primary health centers.
These data are identical in urban ares too.The data brings about a complete apathy of the govt in encouraging the people to use more gvt run institution for medication.

->In power sector and urban infra in nearly 20 lakhs household still dont have access to electricity and water sealed toilets. This shows that government has an daunting task ahead before the deadline for achieving 'electricity for all' policy before 2022Amrut mahostav.

-->Absence of source f income for larger chunk.Around 1lkh urban household depend on begging for income and around 43 k for rag picking and around 3 lkh have no income. The above data is in contrast to the other side of the same coin in which 86pc of tthe people have electricity ,sanitation, vehicles. etc.

The report shows the grim reality and the results of policies which the govt has been following for the decades. Time has come to take a closer look and bring about necessary reforms.Clearly portrays that people of India require complete access to the basic facilities in health, education, infra, sanitation etc be in rural or urban area and a source of income before they are ready for next higher level of initiatives such as that of smart cities.
